Research
My research focuses on the interplay of plant biotic processes (such as photosynthesis, respiration, transpiration), abiotic environmental templates (such as temperature, moisture, and radiation gradients), and anthropogenic disturbances. I use computer models, geographic information systems and spatially enabled databases to explore how those processes effect the distribution and spatial variation of organisms (their biogeographical patterns), and which processes control those patterns (landscape ecology). In short, where things live, and why they live there.
