Research
I am interested in plant responses to elevated temperatures associated with global warming. Changing climate may alter species latitudinal distribution limits and result in plant communities with altered species composition and diversity, especially at current species range boundaries like the temperate-boreal forest ecotone. My work investigates non-structural carbohydrates as a low-light survival mechanism, relationships between light, stored carbon reserves, temperature and survival, as well as how these relationships may shift in a changing climate. I am also interested in physiological mechanisms of acclimation to low light and high temperature. Other research interests include phenological trends across latitudinal gradients and response to changing climate.

Hometown: I now call Minneapolis home, as I have officially lived here longer than any other place. Previous haunts include Wisconsin, Indiana, New York, Arkansas, Belgium and Germany.

Hobbies and interests: Reading, hiking, canoeing, camping, music, traveling, cooking, food (especially spicy food), public radio, gardening, friends and family.
