I work 50% for the Department of Forest Resources as a Research Safety Officer, with oversight of the FR laboratories, growth chambers and as part of the Plant Growth Facilities team. Fifty percent of my time is spent working for Peter Reich; helping with grant proposal preparation; manuscript preparation; making sure the graduate students and post docs know what they are doing; hiring, training and supervising student lab workers; and maintain the Forest Ecology and BioCON web sites.

Research interests: My research experience has been in the areas of tree physiology, forest soils, ectomycorrhizae, and forest ecology.  Studies include greenhouse, growth chamber and field experiments in water relations, relationship between soil aluminum and forest decline, genetics of ectomycorrhizae (associated with conifers) in a forest tree seedling nursery, effects of fertilizer rates on mycorrhizal colonization of black spruce, persistence of inoculated mycorrhizae on outplanted black spruce, biological control of Fusarium diseases of conifers, and biodiversity studies.
